Default Stage 8 Finish

Interesting finish today, I was yelling at the TV for Sanchez and
Casar to not let it slip away. Sanchez was one cool customer.

Gotta wonder if LANCE is getting ****ed off with Contador not being
right on the front with him and Levi, always lurking. Contador is
pretty smart.

It was painful to watch Casar forced to analyze his less than perfect
sprint finish in every detail. At least Jalabert pointed out after
careful study that Sanchez was possibly unbeatable.

I thought Casar had a shot at it, he let Sanchez put him in front too
easily after the catch. He also could have pulled a more aggessive
move, going to the opposite side barriers. Coulda, woulda, shoulda, as
they say.

Casar totally blew it. I watched and re-watched that finish several times.
Near as I can tell, Sanchez ended up freewheeling for a moment after getting
on Casar's wheel. Casar should have been giving it full-gas and either
wasn't by choice or simply didn't have it. Casar has pulled off some nice
sprints at the end of a long day before, so I'm thinking he just screwed up.
Not to take anything away from Sanchez; Jalabert might be right suggesting
that Sanchez couldn't be beat no-matter-what.

Still, watch it again, and see if you don't spot Sanchez coasting for a
split second once on Casar's wheel. Something just seemed wrong about that.

And, as usual, the live finishing shot didn't do it justice. It wasn't until
you saw the overhead shot that it was clear just how badly Sanchez beat
Casar. The live shot made it look like Sanchez might be pulling a Zabel,
celebrating too soon. The reality was otherwise.

With 5K to go I was sure Sanchez was going to win, though when Efemkin
went I thought he might do it. In a sprint, Sanchez.

Sanchez looked the strongest in the last few kms. After Efimkin's attack
the only time the chasers seemed to really close the gap was each time
Sanchez went through to the front (and he rationed those occasions quite
cleverly too).
