Default Yet another pavement motorist kills.

Cyclists please take note, you are not safe from motorists even in
your front gardens.

"A woman has been arrested after a teenager died when a car smashed
through a garden fence and ploughed into him.

Bradley Galvin, 16, died on Saturday night when the woman's car left
the road at a mini roundabout on Remembrance Road in Coventry, West
Midlands.

An ambulance crew tried to rescue the youngster, who was trapped by
the vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 41-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by
dangerous driving at the scene and has been bailed pending further
enquiries..."

If you bothered to look at the source, johannesh, you would see a
picture showing the pavement the killer motorist crossed before
ramming the boy to death in his garden. What if someone had been
riding their bicycle on that pavement at the time? They would have
been put in mortal danger.

When motorists take to pavements, whether intentionally or not, they
obviously present a very serious threat to both pedestrians and
cyclists, who incidentally cannot kill motorists during collisions but
can be killed by them. There is little in law to rectify this
seriously unequal situation and motorists are give preferential
treatment by being able to kill and not be killed, except by other
drivers like themselves.

A cyclist riding on that pavement would have been breaking the law.

So the answer to the issue is for cyclists to remember to remain on the
roads - where they should be eh?

I really cannot understand the point of these constant posts of yours Doug.
Accidents happen. Trains crash, airplanes crash, ambulances crash,
fairground rides fail and people are killed (see recent 'zip-wire' accident
in Wales). Everyday, somewhere in the UK, people will die as result of
accidents - on the roads, in the workplace, at home. To use an unfortunate
American phrase: "**** happens"...

Why you wish to separate out car accidents from the multiplicity of other
fatal accidents, is beyond me. Our economy depends utterly upon motorised
transport, and nothing that you can say or do will alter that fact - so why
keep whittering on about it?

You're right yet again, Doug. There ought to be a law against it.

"The 41-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by

That sounds like another good reason not to cycle on tracks reserved for
pedestrians, doesn't it?

There should be no threat whatsoever to cyclists, who ought not to be there
on the footway in the first place.
