LeMond finally triumphs...
This was tougher than his two Tour victories but Greg LeMond has
finally re-achieved his goal as the only American to win the Tour de France. Took more than a decade of work and 8 DQ's to finally succeed. And before it all shakes out, Greg maybe the last legitimate winner of the tdf, of any nationality. |

Or alternatively there might *never* have been any legitimate winners. -- |

Actually Greg won THREE Tours - 1986, 1989 and 1990! Further, some say he "doped" during his miracle 1989 season....say it ain't so Greg! Good Luck! |

Only one person will read your post and agree with it 100%. Not sure if Greg lurks here though |

Greg Lemond fits the doper profile. His father-in-law could have orchestrated Greg's sudden return to form, mid-Giro, with or without Greg's knowledge or consent. Unfortunately, there are no frozen samples to test, for Greg Lemond. So we will never know-- but, those who really really want to can BELIEVE. And that is what is important, believing in "legitimacy". --D-y |

I was racing NorCal when LeMond was coming up through the ranks. It was mind-blowing to see the kid ride, and I seriously doubt he was doping as a junior, if ever. With that said, when you get into the ranks of the freakishly good -- say Hinault versus LeMond or Armstrong and Contador (at their peaks), the guy with better drugs probably will win a month long stage race. I ride better with a couple of Tylenol. No telling how fast I could finish up a leisurely ride if I were doing EPO -- probably get all the weeding done, too. -- Jay Beattie. |
