Now Jeremy Vine wades in on Bar Vini row after owner 'threatens tosmash cyclist's head in'

BROADCASTER Jeremy Vine has waded into a bike lane row that saw a restaurant owner filmed saying he would "smash a cyclist's head in".

We told today how Bar Vini owner Adriano Matteoni was filmed telling cycling Thomas Cornwallis "Not today pal, I'll smash your f****** head in."

Thomas, who is co-convenor of cycle advocacy group GoBike, had stopped to speak to Adriano after seeing his car parked in the South City Way cycle route.

Adriono told the Glasgow Times the threat came after he had been "provoked" by Thomas who he claims was "harrassing him" while he was working.

In response to our article, Jeremy tweeted: "Not good. Best wishes to Thomas.

"All he did was point out constant parking over the cycle lane."

Jeremy has long been a cycling advocate and has shared stories online of his own altercations when out on his bike.

In 2017 Shanique Pearson was convicted of using threatening or abusive behaviour and driving without reasonable consideration, after she was filmed verbally abusing the BBC broadcaster the year before.

Last year he shared footage from a cycle helmet camera of an incident in which a van appeared to come close to knocking him off his bike.

He slammed the driver for "disgusting behaviour."
