Default Chainring: what is this for?

What Shimano system is this ring for? It says IG chain only on it and is
part 3-N1798440. I think the $119 price tag is wishfull thinking. Its new
in a sealed bag, why the blurry photo.

It's an XT M739-4 chainring. Mid-to-late '90s.

Is the first character a "1" or a "$" sign? The photo looks like like it
could be a flattened "$" sign. It seems different than the "1". It's a
little fuzzy so it's hard to tell. $19.99 would seem about right.

$19.99 would seem about right? Yeah right. Long time you visited a bikeshop.
