Default rail trail

The Age this morning, (29/4) the Fed. Govt. to spend $13.4 million to
construct the Tallarook - Mansfield (Victoria) rail trail, 134 km long.
For those not familiar with this, the Mansfield/Alexandra VR rail line
was constructed in 1888 - 1911 and went out of use in 1978. Scenic
features include Cheviot Tunnel and the high level crossing of Lake
Eildon at Bonnie Doon.
When complete, this will provide an alternative to the Goulburn Valley
and Maroondah Highways, as the Murray to Mountains trail does with the
Ovens Valley Highway.
Media release didn't specify what the running surface would be, most
likely quartz toppings rather than bitumen. Fair few bridges will need
re-decking.
Something to look forward to, though may be a while down the track
(excuse pun) before it's ready for use.
Cheers,
Ray

I don't think anyone's going to rant and rail about a good pun! You're
showing promise, you should train a bit harder. Good way to let off steam.

That's great news Ray.

I'm sure you'd be aware of this, but other readers might be
interested in the map at:
