Cyclists live no longer than golfers!
See:
http://group.bmj.com/group/media/lat...e-over-golfers It seems that Olympians and people who participate in active sports live 2.8 years longer than the general population, but cyclists live no longer than golfers (and have a greater chance of being killed on the road)! |

As if I care whether I die at 84 or 86! A couple more years in my 20s or 30s would have been nice. |

Golfers stand a greater chance of being killed by balls, clubs, overturning carts - they really should wear helmets. |

I suppose the possibility that golfers and cyclists, and even others who engage in physical activity or sport could be doing it just for the enjoyment rather than as a means to extending life is a concept too advanced for so many of you. |

Cyclists & golfers have something in common - they both dress in weird clothing. -- Dave - Cyclists VOR. "Many people barely recognise the bicycle as a legitimate mode of transport; it is either a toy for children or a vehicle fit only for the poor and/or strange," Dave Horton, of Lancaster University, wrote in an interim assessment of the Understanding Walking and Cycling study. "For them, cycling is a bit embarrassing, they fail to see its purpose, and have no interest in integrating it into their lives, certainly on a regular basis." |

The biggest risk to golfers is being struck by lightning. Deaths for the reasons you quoted are almost non-existent, although may cause injuries.
