Default Cyclists live no longer than golfers!

It seems that Olympians and people who participate in active sports
live 2.8 years longer than the general population, but cyclists live
no longer than golfers (and have a greater chance of being killed on
the road)!

As if I care whether I die at 84 or 86!

A couple more years in my 20s or 30s would have been nice.

You won't be saying that a day before your 84th birthday....

Golfers stand a greater chance of being killed by balls, clubs,
overturning carts - they really should wear helmets.

I suppose the possibility that golfers and cyclists, and even others who
engage in physical activity or sport could be doing it just for the
enjoyment rather than as a means to extending life is a concept too
advanced for so many of you.

Cyclists & golfers have something in common - they both dress in weird
clothing.

Dave - Cyclists VOR. "Many people barely recognise the bicycle as a
legitimate mode of transport; it is either a toy for children or a
vehicle fit only for the poor and/or strange," Dave Horton, of Lancaster
University, wrote in an interim assessment of the Understanding Walking
and Cycling study. "For them, cycling is a bit embarrassing, they fail
to see its purpose, and have no interest in integrating it into their
lives, certainly on a regular basis."

The biggest risk to golfers is being struck by lightning. Deaths for the reasons you quoted are almost non-existent, although may cause injuries.
