Default 0.045% of offences committed by cyclists

Cyclists in Northern Ireland commit just 9 road traffic offences for
every 20,000 committed by motorists.

because cyclists are not subjected or persecuted for the same raft of
offences that motorists are, cyclists are notoriously difficult to
identify or trace and motorists outnumber cyclists by many thousands to one.

Get the numbers skewed to reflect those items (and the other things that
are different between the two modes ) and come back with the truth.

According to that article, cyclists make up about 1% of road traffic.
not the "many thousands to one" you allege.

I have seen many articles allege that all sorts of things are true, but
a simple eyeball test on any street will show that cyclists are
outnumbered thousands to one against, not to mention the distances each
mode travel per year.

Garbage in, garbage out.

I haven't looked at your "source", but it will be garbage.

I suppose if there are so few of them it is not surprising.

Figures released by the PSNI in June showed that from 2008-2012 the number of
people killed or seriously injured (KSI - DOE headline measure) while cycling
had risen, doubling over that period to a high of 57 in 2012.

I clicked on a link in it - and what did I see? An article entitled;

"Cycling safety deteriorating in Northern Ireland"

Just like in the rest of the UK then.

It is not very nice of you to call the Police Service of Northern
Ireland "garbage".

Is that what is the real name of "Northern Ireland Greenways" - the PSNI?

Most odd.

If the PSNI is trying to assert that NI cyclists are as law-abiding and
considerate as all that, then either, that is garbage or Ulster cyclists
are a breed apart from cyclists everywhere else.

I'm going for the "garbage in" option.
