Thugs pounce on cyclist and headbutt him in brutal daylight robbery

A gang of men pounced on a passing cyclist, stole his phone, headbutted him and then made off on his bike.

The vicious attack happened along the canal towpath at Tinsley in Sheffield, at 2.30pm on Wednesday, July 15.

The cyclist passed a group of men on a bench when one of the gang jumped up and grabbed his headphones, pulling his mobile phone out of his pocket.

Shaken, the cyclist stopped before trying to ride off, only to be grabbed from behind and headbutted.

The man who attacked him then took his bike and rode off, with the rest of his gang following.

Detective Constable Ryan Griffiths described it as a "horrible" attack which has left the victim incredibly shaken.

He said: "As the victim rode alongside the men, one of them grabbed his headphones, which pulled his mobile phone out of his pocket.

"The victim, shocked, stopped his bike and then attempted to ride away again, but was grabbed from behind. He was then headbutted by one of the group, who then took his bike and left the scene with the rest of the men."

South Yorkshire Police has now released the above e-fits of the men wanted in connection to the brutal robbery.

Det Cons Griffiths added: "This was a horrible incident and the victim has been left extremely shaken by what happened. If you recognise these men or have any information about what happened, please contact us.�
