QUOTE:
A car left the scene of a collision that left a cyclist in a 'serious' condition in hospital in the early hours of today.

Leicestershire Police detectives believe a grey Audi RS3 car drove off from the scene in Enderby at around 3.20am today.

A car and a cyclist were involved in a collision on the B4114 Leicester Road, near the Foxhunter roundabout junction with Blaby Road and Enderby Road.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries where he currently remains receiving treatment.

The road remained closed five hours on.

From initial enquiries, it is believed the car involved is a grey Audi RS3 car. The car is likely to have significant impact damage to the front of the vehicle.

Full enquiries are ongoing to locate the car and driver and officers are asking members of the public with any information regarding the vehicle to make contact.

Officers are also appealing for anyone with any information in relation to the incident to get in touch. This includes the driver of a dark-coloured vehicle who is believed to have been in the area at the time of the collision and may have witnessed the incident.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hawkins said: “We are currently carrying out enquiries to locate the Audi vehicle and driver and are asking anyone who believes they have seen the vehicle, or who believes they have any information about it, to make contact.

“The car, which we believe to be a grey Audi RS3, is likely to have significant damage to the front of the vehicle.

“If you are the driver of this car, I also urge you to make contact with us.

“In addition, anyone who has any other information in relation to the collision should also make contact if you have not already done so.

“If you happened to be in the area during the early hours of this morning, or have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area which could assist this investigation, please contact police.”

Anyone with any information should contact 101 quoting incident 73 of 25 July. You can also report online at https://www.leics.police.uk/ro/report/
