I wonder how long it takes them to carry the mail from Bristol to Edinburgh on
their push bikes?

Amazing.

How DO they get post from Bristol and Bat to Edinburgh in time for next
day delivery just by bicycle?

And that must be what they do, because in another paragraph, they can be
seen sniping at Royal Mail for "using 200 tonnes [or maybe tons] of
diesel" annually.

That's an odd figure - the Royal Mail have around 45,000 vehicles, if they
were all diesel (the majority are) then 200 tonnes of fuel would be around
5 litres per year, per vehicle.

Hmmm, wondering whether I had mis-transcibed the figure, I went back and
checked.

But yes, "200 tonnes" it was.

The implication is that they use more when all purposes are TIA (though
"delivery" is surely the Royal Mail's raison d'etre?).

Maybe they meant that the Royal Mail would use 200 tonnes of fuel
delivering the stuff that their cycle operation now delivers. But that
figure then seems too high.

I suspect poor reporting.
