Default Cyclist involved in fatal collision with man in Didsbury interviewedby police

QUOTE:
A cyclist involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian in south Manchester has been identified, a coroner said today.

Ian Roland Gunn, 56, died in hospital eight days after being 'struck by a cyclist' on Wilmlsow (SIC) Road in Didsbury last month.

The opening of an inquest into Mr Gunn's death was today told that the cyclist had been identified as Cornelius De Bruin and had been spoken to by officers investigating the collision.

Opening the inquest, Manchester Area Coroner Zak Golombeck said: "The circumstances of the death are that Mr Gunn had been out and was crossing the road when a cyclist struck him and knocked him to the ground.

"Mr Gunn sadly suffered serious head injuries.

"He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where he died on June 28.

"Mr Gunn was admitted to Salford Royal Hospital on June 22.

"The incident itself took place on Saturday June 20 at 4:35pm on Wilmslow Road."

Referring to evidence in the case Mr Golombek said: "I will require the full file from Greater Manchester Police who continue to investigate this incident.

"In particular various CCTV footage which is available of the incident which I will need to consider.

"Also interviews with the cyclist who is Cornelius De Bruin.

"I will need to consider these and other information from Greater Manchester Police."

The coroner said a post-mortem had been carried out but that the full report was not yet available and the cause of death was not disclosed in court.

The inquest was adjourned until an unspecified future date.

Yet another impossible thing happens and is reported.

Someone ought to tell the MNE that cyclists never run into pedestrians.
And that if they do, the pedestrian won't be injured. And that if the
pedestrian is injured, it won't be serious. And that if the injury to
the pedestrian is serious, it won't be fatal. And that if the injury is
fatal, it'll be better than being hit by a car.
