Police said the incident happened at the Clarendon Street junction
with Warwick Street at around 11.15pm on Friday (July 24).

The crash involved a cyclist being hit by a car.

Police said that the cyclist sustained minor injuries from the
incident and that the driver of the car was drug tested and was
arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of
cannabis.

Fair enough.

As a matter of fact, it's about time that the use of tobacco in motor
vehicles - especially by, but not limited to - those driving - was
banned as well.

How about caffeine?

Do as many drivers or motorcyclists brew up pots of coffee on the move
as compared with the number who fumble for and light up cigarettes (or
similar articles)?

Based on his track record, I expect Michael Collins won't have any evidence
to support his claim.

I have no idea. Maybe you should do some research before leaping to conclusions.

It was you who sought to draw a comparison between the risks attached to
the fumbling for cigarettes (or whatever) and matches, lighter or
car-borne cigar-lighter and (as it now seems) the effects of having
drunk coffee earlier.

If you didn't mean to suggest that some people were brewing up coffee on
the move (the only correct comparison for the use of tobacco and other
substances whilst on the move), you must have been trying to suggest
that caffeine has an effect similar to alcohol or other intoxicating
substances.

Neither of those puts you in a good light, though.

So you have done no research as yet. Report back when you have something worthwhile to share with the group.

About *your* silly suggestion that caffeine should be banned?

Er... no thanks.

Legal cannabis is the first step to solving this problem.

Alcohol is legal, but driving with too much in your system is not.

The Police now do saliva tests for drug drivers and there is a legal limit for weed and cocaine even though both are illegal.

I suppose one can have a legal low drug driving level if you mix with the wrong type of people and get it in your system by accident.

No, I can't parse that last bit either.

It's gibberish.
