folding bike for touring

Use a folder were it is build for. Imo it is for short distances from public transportation to final destination. I tried several folders and they all rode terrible. Fine enough for short distances but not for touring. Yes, when I say "good for touring" for small-wheeled folders I mean "usable for touring." They certainly don't ride like a full size touring bicycle. I would definitely not go below 20" wheels. I would also greatly prefer a triple chainring over an internal hub for touring. The best, by far, 20" wheeled folding touring bicycle I've ever seen is the Gaerlan GoTravel gt20, but I don't think he's still making them. http://www.gaerlan.com/bikes/gotravel/gtspec.htm. This was a suitable ride for long tours. All custom made, and at a very good price. |
