Default 7 speed cassette on 8/9 speed hub?

I have read posts on this subject and have gotten the same answer over
and over again... USE A SPACER!

What I want to know is the following:

1) Where can I get one of these spacers via the internet?

2) What is the proper thickness of the spacer? I performed this
procedure on one of mountain bikes once, and I tried to re-use the
same spacer on a similar road bike conversion and found the spacer was
not thick enough (both Shimano systems).

Thanks!

Hi,
This one worked fine for me.
http://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=5311

From info on the wheels manufacturing website in the spacer info it is named
part # NCS-4.5 - 4.5 mm thick. Also used for spacing a 7 speed freehub for
use on an 8 speed body.

I hoped this helped.
