Dia Compe VC-900 Brakes
Last week I asked about setup info for these brakes and got no useful responses. The person on whose bike I adjusted these brakes just returned from her tour and reports things went pretty well, but I'd still like to know what the official Dia Compe line is on setting these things up. As I said, the VC-900 has one straight arm and one bent arm. There's a good picture at: http://www.firstflightbikes.com/Lbrake92.JPG As you can infer from the picture, if you set up the pads so they are symmetrically centered on the center-line of the bike then the transverse (straddle) cable will not be centered on the bike. Is this what Dia Compe had in mind? If however you fiddle with the pad extensions (i.e. set the pad on the straight arm further out and the one on the bent arm closer to the arm) then you could probably center the transverse cable. Is this perhaps what Dia Compe had in mind? Or should I just (as I did before my friend left on her tour) take a suck-and-see approach? jeverett3ATearthlinkDOTnet http://home.earthlink.net/~jeverett3 |
