Mountain Biker Rescued
September 20, 2008
MANCHESTER — - Rescuers from Manchester and Glastonbury rescued a
mountain biker who was thrown from his bike and injured while riding
on Case Mountain.

The injured man, identified only as a 37-year-old from Berlin, was
riding with a friend when his bike struck an obstacle. He was thrown
over the handlebars, and his head struck a large rock. His friend told
rescuers that the man suffered a momentary loss of consciousness.

Rescuers from the Glastonbury Fire Department, Manchester
Fire-Rescue-EMS and local volunteers mobilized after being notified
about 10 a.m. A paramedic reached the cyclist, who was wearing a
helmet, about 11 a.m. Rescuers carried him to an ambulance by noon. It
took about 20 minutes to carry him to a point where he could be loaded
onto the vehicle, and then another 26 minutes for that vehicle to get
out of the woods, Manchester Fire Chief Robert Bycholski said.
