However, proving the driver's intent might be difficult, and in the ordinary course of events it's up to the vehicle behind to leave sufficient space to stop. I don't believe there is any such expectation. The expectation is that the driver ahead does not come to a sudden stop just because he/she feels like it. We can't see what's ahead but the bike rider could. In the ordinary course of events, it is usually possible to see beyond the vehicle ahead and act more or less in tandem. |
