Default So... humor me. My latest project.

He's a Gary Littlejohn tandem... yup, a BMX! I've been building this
varment for the last two years. I cut in S&S couplings and fitted
Dahon racks. He now has a Bendix, red-band, "kick down"; however, I'm
going to a Profile 3-speed cassette. The wifey and I like to travel,
so this will be our touring bike. I'm learning to like riding with my
knees bent. I strap a sandwich to my knee and, every time my knee
comes up, I take a bite! That's a Campy Euclid brake on the rear with
a Sturmey Elite drum on the front. If I uncouple him and drop the
rear wheel, he's 48" long.

Looks nice, TIG, MIG or Oxy/Ace welded? Brazed on the S&S? I've heard
of the S&S couplers but not familiar with. Spendy pedals! What kind of
cranks? Looks like you adapted the bmx bottom bracket to take a
cartridge setup?

The frame is by Gary Littlejohn in the early '70s. He built a lot of
oddball BMX stuff; he was best known for his side hacks; however, his
outfit built two styles of tandem... that's one of them.

I machined a stock eccentric to fit the standard BMX shell. The S&S
couplings are a retrofit and brazed with 56% silver.

The cranks were in it when I found it at a church garage sale...
they're Cook Bros.

That is brilliant! Daft but brilliant!

Yeah gotta like it. Well done.
I can see it being a great runabout for a couple on holidays.
Stunts are going to take a fair bit of team coordination. ;-)

It wouldn't work for me and my significant annoyance, I've tried the
tandem holiday thing.
I was told I'm a thoughtless captain and I block the view.

So my tandem lives in the basement with flat tires and a thick
protective coating of dust.

Separate bikes seemed a better compromise than separate beds. ;-)

I'd set the cranks in phase for when at the skate park.

Stunts are *not* in our vocabulary! I'm still trying to learn how to
ride with my knees bent.
