Indeed - I'm not about to splash out that amount - but interesting to know about all the same. They seem to have sorted the 'at standstill' issue to some extent. To some extent? What more do you want? Before dynamo Standlights were off the shelf I built my own using 4xAA cells and a neat trick where you put a capacitor in series with the base of a bjt and a resistor from base to ground. Does not change the fact that hub dynamos and lamps firmly bolted to the vehicle are best for urban cycling. Despite the extra effort? :-) - https://www.cyclingabout.com/dynamo-...g-lab-testing/ Although they don't factor in the extra weight of the hub. I have never noticed any extra effort or weight. But I ride a Dawes Karakum, not exactly light weight. Comfortable, upright riding position but shoddily built from whatever components the Dawes engineers found in the used parts bin that day. |
