Default How can lorry drivers be so dim?

"Eleven-year-old killed in car accident

An 11-year-old girl was killed and members of her family seriously
hurt when their stationary people carrier was struck by a lorry,
police said today.

The accident happened after their Toyota vehicle had broken down at
the side of the road on the A34 in Drayton, Abingdon early today.

Four family members, thought to be her parents and two siblings, were
taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said the girl was pronounced dead at
the scene shortly after the crash.

He added: "The accident happened when a stationary Toyota people
carrier, which had broken down, was struck by a heavy goods vehicle."

The lorry driver was being questioned by officers as a matter of
course."

Of course.

Not the first such accident to happen when a vehicle breaks down, and it
won't be the last.

The A34 from a point on M40 north of Oxford right down to the south of
Winchester should have been built as a fully-specified motorway, with
limited gradients, three-lane carriageways and hard shoulders for
emergencies. The same is true of the A14 right across from the East
Anglian coast to the M1/M6 junction.

The tree-huggers who oppose any road that will be represented as a blue
line on the map have a lot to answer for, since they actually oppose safety.
