Is a 10 SP racer with drop handlebars collectible in any way?

Dragged one off a skip the other day, the only bit missing is the rear axle.

The only real salvage is a bottle dynamo lighting set - I don't think tyres
have ribbed sidewalls for those anymore.

I rode a 10 Raleigh carbon steel sports tourer fir 10 years as only trans (warm here)developing the ride into a solid 21C sports tourer with double wall rims, er go bar, 21C brakes, Spec saddle... $800

Great ride... Shimano Deore components.

There are similar rides selling new for 2500 up...with maybe more advsnced tubing

To a degree yes, they have value, though more if they have history.

Touring tyres still have ribbed tyres for bottle dynamos.

Depends. A Peugeot PX10 will have a lot of value while a cheap rusty
70's department store racer won't even have scrap value.

Bottle dynamos were one of the abominations of the bike world. Dirt poor
efficiency, noisy, failing a lot in winter, and mostly shoddy electrical
contacting. I'd get rid of that and install some decent system. The
lighting set is also generally useless because in the olden days they
failed to produce much ... light. Sometimes after going over a rough
road they quit producing any light. Get something modern with LED.

Mmmmmmmmmm PX-10. That was a really great bike. Heavy as a tank but really top of the line otherwise.

He speaketh the truth. Even Nordlicht dynamo's, while better, wouldn't
work in the winter and were dodgy in the rain.

I might have an old Nordlicht lying around :-)

Aside from all the working environment issues, the Miller bottles were
double the output of the SA hubs - non floating generator coil was a PITA if
you wanted a full wave rectifier charging a battery.

If a MTB wheel with hub dynamo turned up, I'd do something with it.

The bottle is in the parts bin - one of those things i'll never need, till I
go looking for one.
