Irrelevant, unless you can find examples of "scientists" having to be forced by legislation to stop their actions then there is no comparison between the trustworthiness of scientists and lorry drivers. How about the legislation on cloning? They were prevented from attempting to clone a human, even to the embryonic stage, after "Dolly the sheep" came to being. Show me the X,000s of cloned humans that were made before the legislation was finally brought in to stop this? They weren't because as soon as cloning was proven to be able to produce a living entity, the law was changed to prevent human cloning - THIS IS EXACTLY THE EXAMPLE YOU WANTED SOMEONE TO GIVE as it proves that scientists were forced by legislation to stop their actions. Now compare this with the number of times that lorry drivers wee shown to be untrustworthy and had to have their behaviour curbed. Look at the goalposts move. BTW, cloning isn't the sole example of scientists having the brakes applied by legislation.... -- Conor I'm not prejudiced. I hate everybody equally. |

Err, no you are wrong. Marc would win on the education comparison. I don't think that an Open University degree is anything special - do you? BSc Hons (Open) , Systems thinking, Environment and Policy Come on then "mileburner" - what were you saying about Round's educational achievements. Has he asked you to stfu - many seem to be doing that. I am not certain but I have been told that "BSc Hons (Open) , Systems thinking, Environment and Policy" is what he has; it will impress Mason if nothing else. |

I am an occasional cyclist - are you saying that my views do not count? Of course they count, I just wonder whether those were your actual responses that you submitted to the survey. I was asking Lee as he was suggesting "warning" the CTC for some reason, if that was I had responded; perhaps he could explain. Clearly you didn't actually respond to the survey in the way you claimed. I don't know why you didnt just say "No I didn't respond in that way". Why are the answers I gave here , "clearly" not my actual response? Because the survey doesn't accept responses without all questions answered. Pretty obvious really. |

I am an occasional cyclist - are you saying that my views do not count? I think he may be. That was what the survey instructions said anyway "If you are a /regular/ cyclist, please answer the 10 questions that follow. " BTW, When you noted the absence of a neutral response to question 7 and advised people not to answer it, did you not notice the final option "I do not have any problems sharing the road with lorries/Does not apply to me"? best wishes james |
