Default Hitch Rack for a Tandem

Wife and I recently purchased a Trek T-900 tandem. She has an OSI spare
tire rack on her RAV4. It works fine with the tandem. We find the balance
point and clamp the bike there. I have a SARIS hitch rack for my PT
Cruiser. It can't handle the tandem. Even with the new "bat wings"' the
bike torques around the tube. I've called a tandem specilty store and the
only recommend the Draftmaster. Due to limited range of motion with one
arm, I can't use a roof rack.
I've seen hitch racks with twin arms that range from about $70 for a Bell
rack to $180 for a Thule all the way up to $500+ for the Draftmaster.

Looking for any suggestions, experiences etc.

We use a hitch rack that supports the tires, but for our tandem we had
to make an "extension" for one side that the fork bolts into (we remove
the front tire to make it shorter, and turn the forks backwards).

At a bike rally we once came across, I took the time to ride around in
the parking lot to see how other's had mounted thier tandems and it
appeared that all the hitch racks were modified in some way to work.

That aside, tandeming is great fun. If you haven't done so already, I'd
recommend reading the article "the stoker makes no mistakes", URL is below.

GTG was the shop that recommended the Draftmaster. I tried that url, but
it didn't work.
