The creation message for the moderated group uk.rec.cycling.moderated has just been issued. Excellent! Thanks to everyone who helped to create the group, but particularly to my ten co-moderators, to the votetaker (who is now recovering from a serious reaction to Tamiflu), and of course to the readers and voters. Everything seems to be working correctly. I have just approved the first three articles and they are propagating normally. Propagation may be patchy in some remote corners but most servers which carry uk.* are running on full autopilot and will have the newsgroup by now. So we are in business. In case of technical problems (lost articles, poor propagation, etc.) please contact me privately by email (at the address above, or in case of spamfilter problems at postmaster@chiark). If you have questions about the moderation policy, please contact urcm-moderators@chiark. If these don't work you can use the newsgroup uk.net.news.moderation but of course that is a bit of a troll pit so you'll have to hold your nose. -- Ian Jackson personal email: These opinions are my own. http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~ijackson/ PGP2 key 1024R/0x23f5addb, fingerprint 5906F687 BD03ACAD 0D8E602E FCF37657 |

And thanks to you, for your not inconsiderable efforts to achieve this end. So we are in business. Indeed. If you have questions about the moderation policy, please contact urcm-moderators@chiark. Will you, or they, or somebody be keeping records of how many posts/posters are accepted or rejected? I'd just be interested to see to what extent the trolls attempt to overwhelm the moderators. |

I think we should encourage a couple of individuals to compete for the coveted "most rejected posts" award. This will be something where they can indulge their desire to "win" without falling foul of the tiresome necessity to actually be right some of the time. -- Guy |
