Opinion: Tour Easy vs Stratus

Wow, that's cheap (for you)! Hope you are recoverying well and enjoying recumbent biking with the improved blood flow to your heart. I'll stand by my assertion as written, however, since the actual cost of your bypass was likely significantly more than $4. Somebody paid more for it, if not directly you... "The average cost of bypass surgery in the U.S. is more than $40,000 in direct and indirect medical expenses. " -- http://www.alegent.com/index.cfm?app=21:35 Even with insurance, I suspect when you consider all of your direct and indirect costs (e.g., time for recovery, medical inruance premiums, etc...) even just costs to you were more than $4. know where I can get a GR for $4 ?? Know where I can get a medical plan that has an out-of-pocket $4 for medical procedures that cost tens of thousands of dollars? %^) Sadly, Blue Cross/Medicare/VA/whatever, aren't subsidising our bike purchases. Even so, given a choice between spending only $4 for bypass surgery vs. even $4,000+ for a recumbent bike, the later may be used to avoid the former and is likely much more "fun". Compa "I just spent four hours riding my bike." "I just spent four hours 'under the knife.'" Ride well, and keep those arteries open! %^) Jon Meinecke Jon, Oh sure .... NOW you tell me...... Thanks, jd |

Oh sure .... NOW you tell me...... Yeah, me too. I started taking my bike enjoyment "seriously" when my GP threatened to put me on blood pressure control medication. 45 lbs lighter and thousands of miles later, it's easy to rationalize spending money on bike stuff! %^) It's both a quantity and quality of life issue. Interestingly, I recently changed from buying supplemental life insurance to buying AD&D (accidental death and dismemberment) insurance (through paycheck deduction). I figure I am now less likely to die from "natural causes" due to riding more and more likely to D or D due to riding more! Now if my wife decides to kill me, she's better off *not* making it look like a heart attack %^P Jon Meinecke P.S. I'm still curious what sort of medical plan makes bypass surgery cost $4 to the patient. |

Co. it was with...it was whatever my wife had from her job at the time and they tend to change Ins. Co.s every year or two.....That was about 5 yrs. ago....now it would be a bit more $ because they keep increasing the co-pay. And by the way...the $4 was for rental of a TV....that was not covered. jd |
