STI shifter indexing, sometimes
I have an old RSX triple drivetrain and the rear derailleur shifter
will, usually when shifting up, not shift. If I shift the lever a few times the derailleur will engage, but I am concerned that this is a warning that the shifter is about to give up the ghost. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions about repair/replace? Should I begin my campaign for a new bike, using this shifter scenario as a useful excuse? Andy

Is this a common problem? BRBR Yes. A flush with the 'STI repair kit', WD-40 or a good lube. If no soap, replace is the only option. Recommend Campagnolo ERGO, rear der and no more failed, gotta replace levers.
