Default 1" quill fork replacement?

I converted a 1" quill stem to a standard 1-1/8 with a $20 part from
Performance made by topo.

Sounds like that might be what you need.

Chris, this kept me up all night. I measured the head tube on the frame with
a caliper after I took the fork off. It's 1"diameter. I don't see how any
part in the world is going to make it so I can get a 1-1/8 steerer tube in
there. Am I missing something?

Oh, wait. You mean the stem, not the fork. Never mind.

If I were in your position, I'd try and get a rigid fork for it. For
around town, that will be lower maintenance, work better, and look less
valuable to thieves.

I might even have one you could have, but it could be a 1 1/8", I'll
have to check.

Thanks for the offer. I want to see what I can scare up in town for him. I'd
like it to be trail worthy, just in case he decides to go trail riding.

Well LMK if you want me to dig it out and have a look. This particular
fork (older Kona) *is* trail worthy! It's got some good trail Miles on
it from the early 90's!

I'm sorry, Penny. the device I was referring to was what I used to
convert my 1" ht on the SS to accept a regular 1-1/8" stem and
corresponding bar, etc. I kept my old tange butted fork, but could
have traded it out for a 1" bomber.

Ok, guys, keeping laughing at me. I found out today that it is 1-1/8. I
guess I didn't read the caliper correctly.

onward...

Hmm... Check and make sure it has wheels.
