crap. 3 punctures up Doncaster Hill, (i 'only' carry 2 tubes)
so just gots home and finished brekky.
finally found the cause of my woes. It looks like a bit of filing or
summit, cleverly hidden in rear tyre

Solo ride today. Nobody at the start so I left at about 7.35

I had a similar experience to Dutch.....was running a few minutes behind
time and on my way to Doncaster when I ran over something sharp on
Manningham Rd just past the nursery.......flatted both tyres and as I only
had one spare by the time I had changed one tube and repaired the other
there was no way I was going to make it in time. Thought about riding
direct to Smith's Gully but as the road was wet and I dreaded the idea of
getting another flat to repair (only had one glueless patch left) I decided
to come back home.....went back to bed and slept until 1100h (tribe left
early to go to in-laws for a few days) then watched the cycling on SBS.
Mowed the lawn and had lunch then at about 1430h decided to go out on the
mtb. Rode all the singletrack I could from Viewbank to Fairfield then
turned around and rode it all the way back to the hill climb course in
Templestowe - did two intervals up the hill then went around the corner and
had coffee and cheesecake at the Nursery near the baseball diamond. I had
$10 which was lucky as it was $9.10 for a flat white and a berry
cheesecake!!! - the cheesecake was really nice but I still think it was a
bit steep!!! Rode back to Viewbank along the singletrack and not long ago
had pasta for dinner.

It was perfect weather for riding and I am disappointed that I didn't make
the BR this morning.....hopefully next time!!!

On 2007-04-01, Gags (aka Bruce)
was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea:
to come back home.....went back to bed and slept until 1100h (tribe left

Grrrr. Another clock in the house I forgot to put over to non-DST.

I was out on the Tour de Warrumbungles. 80km, not terribly much
climbing, but enough to hurt. Not a race, but I made sure I split up
the bunch early. Some tracky from Dubbo kept on taking the points at
the top of every hill though -- I wasn't treating the ride seriously
enough. 'Twas because I spent too much time on the front driving --
spent my legs before the big hills (I'm told 14% of the tip of
Blackburn's hill).

No, the best way to prepare is to write programs, and to study great
programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage
cans at the Computer Science Center and I fished out listings of their
operating system. -- Bill Gates
