The Psychology of Mountain Biking
Bla, Bla, Bla, Bla. Appaerently the school Mikey got his degree from
just hands out Ph. D's to anyone with thier head up thier ass. Every one of his arguments are childish and selfserving. His direct attack on moutain biking while ignoring other land use issues shows that this is a personal vendetta against moutain biking and has very little to do wildlife. I think it is very clear that Mikey needs to let go of whatever happened between he and a moutainbiker in the past and put all his misguided efforts towards something else. -- Come ride in West Virginia! -------------------------- Posted via cyclingforums.com http://www.cyclingforums.com |

Despite the fact its been around a while, I do enjoy seeing the whole "psychology" diatribe resurface every now and again. Its like watching your favorite sitcom rerun again and again. You know what the gags are going to be, but can't help but laugh. Here's a throwback to the SATs of yesteryear. Mikey V. is to AM-B as: a) Wile E. Coyote is to Acme Products b) The Wicked Witch is to Toto c) A crack ho' is to her pimp d) all of the above |

It is best to ignore this Mike V. character. We have had dealings with him before on various mountain bike email lists and forums. He is a pest. And apparantly has alot of time on his hands... -- -------------------------- Posted via cyclingforums.com http://www.cyclingforums.com |

Every one of his arguments are childish and selfserving. I think it is very clear that Mikey needs to let go of whatever happened between he and a moutainbiker in the past and put all his misguided efforts towards something else. Let's not forget that Mikey doesn't actually hold a PhD in anything that makes him close to an expert on trail damage, erosion or anything else related to what he spews about. His PhD is in Psychology and his undergrad degree is in Math. So, he may know how to solve a sytem of simultaneous equations and he may be qualified to tell somebody that he really loves his mother but he most definately is not qualified to speak about the alleged trail damage that bicyclists cause versus their hiking counterparts. Now let's get on to how Mikey likes to grossly overgeneralize that every single MTBiker out there lies. he spews these statistics as if they were the truth (in the world that he lives in with yellow skies I'm sure that we all do lie but in our world with the blue sky we know that is hardly the truth). Now being a PhD. he surely knows the importance of verifiable fact when one actually states the methods one uses to come to such a conclusion. Should one PhD actually publish such a bold statement as "100 % of all mountain Bikers lie" in a journal where one's peers may actually see such scientific methods in use then that person would most certainly find themselves the laughing stock of their chosen profession (let's think back to two scientists who claimed that cold fusion existed but could never verify their results nor could their peers verify those results). So, Mikey spews these facts like he's an expert but he is not qualified at all to make these claims and he uses no part of the scientific method that he should have learned in one of those overpriced universities he went to. Of course, I'll give him credit that by going to U.C. Bezerkely he was probably baked more often than not so he may not actually remember the lecture when they discussed how one properly goes about obtaining data that can be verified and replicated. |

Don't you wish? === I am working on creating wildlife habitat that is off-limits to humans ("pure habitat"). Want to help?
