Night riding
Night riding. "THE wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor And the highwayman came riding---------- Riding---------- riding---------- The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door." I was out on the uni the other night doing some pavement practice when I noticed a pedestrian ahead. I was catching him up so I preferred that he got wellpast the next street lamp before that happened. However he stopped under the lamp and wouldn't budge. I slowed and remained in the darkness. He still wouldn't move so I presumed that he was waiting for a car lift or something. Something had to give and I was forced to break cover or fall off. When I got to the lamp he said that he knew there was something pretty tall following him in the dark but he couldn't work out what it was, so he thought that it might be a mugger. That's why he stopped under the light. "the highwayman came riding------- Riding--------riding------- The highwayman came riding--------- He'd a plastic dome on his forehead, a nylon strap round his chin a coat of fluorescent orange, and breeches with chamois sewn in They fitted with never a wrinkle, his shin guards were up to the thigh And he rode with a jewelled twinkle, His cotterless cranks a twinkle, His 36 spokes a twinkle, under the jewelled sky." However the alarmed pedestrian need have had no fear since I was merely practising for a proposed daily commute to my place of work. So I continued on my way: "The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees The moon was a stately galleon tossed upon stormy seas The road was a ribbon of moonlight where I was heading for And the Uni-man came riding------- Riding--------riding The Uni-man came riding, ---- and UPD'd at the door! -- tedward ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tedward's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/12206 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/49422 |
