Cyclists Cable Car
A new cable car, capable of taking cyclists and their steeds, is to
open by the Summer of 2012 linking the Millennium Dome to ExCel. This mass transit system will broadly follow the line of the free Blackwall Tunnel which is closed to pedestrians and cyclists, however, it appears that the cable car will not be free. Perhaps it is not time that a toll is introduced for cars and other vehicles using the Blackwall Tunnel. http://www.greenwich.co.uk/news/0461...able-car-plan/ |

Never was a typo more contrary to what I meant: "perhaps it is *now* time". Sorry. |

Yes. The Blackwall Tunnel is currently being refurbished by Transport for London at a cost of £70m. It seems reasonable that those licensed users who have exclusive use of the facility pay for it, not London Council Tax Payers. Are you alleging that the drivers don't pay their taxes? That's a bizarrely inappropriate claim for a tax-dodging cyclist to make. |

In that case, make the cable car free. Indeed. Seems sensible to me. |

I don't want to subscribe to the Blackwall Tunnel which only allows motorised users. |

I can't see why a cable car would be any different provided it is not unnecessarily high over the dock. |
