You dont need an oven. I used a hot air gun to do my rear axle.

Why on earth would you paint an axle?

Because I needed to. Now, any comment on the suggestion to the OP that
powder coating would be a sensible way for him to progress?

I assumed we're not talking bike axles here.

Hi,

I've inherited an old Harry Quinn cycle. It's one of my late grandad's
racers he used to use for time trialling. It's not been used for 7 or 8
years now. It's quite old-school - Weinman 730 brakes, non-indexed
shifters on the lower part of the frame, very light alloy wheels still
with tubs, not tyres and tubes on. It weighs Virtually nothing and is
fantastic to ride. It's got nothing on that it doesn't need as it was
built for lightness - all expensive stuff too I believe. It's seems to be
all campag and suntour.

It's looking scruffy and I'd like to get it repainted. Years ago, I got my
frame renamelled up North - but it's 20 + years ago now.

Can anyone recommend someone who can do this down in the South East?

thanks!

Mike P

Because they would fit in a regular oven anyway. :-)

Mario Vaz in London. I've had four frames re-enamelled by Bob Jackson,
but the paint isn't very tough and they managed to mess up the BB
threads on the first two (OK after retapping at the LBS).

Quoting Mike P :
Now, any ideas on how to remove a pair of suntour pedals that cost that much
so long ago, my grandad threadlocked them on and did them up *really* tight
to stop them being nicked? I simply can't move them. Yes, I am turning them
the right way :-)

Tie the opposite crank firmly to the frame and arrange the pedal wrench
so that you can step down onto it.
