Default ANOTHER Serious Injury Caused by Mountain Biking!

http://www.mydesert.com/article/2010...eet+from+trail

An injured mountain biker who fell several feet off a dirt trail was
airlifted to safety Sunday.

A 45-year-old woman had been riding on a trail off Dunn Road, not far
from Murray Peak, when she lost balance on the rocky terrain and fell
15 feet down a slope, Palm Springs Fire Battalion Chief Mark Avner
said.

The woman called for help about 11:30 a.m. But the road was too narrow
and rugged for an ambulance, Avner said. Emergency crews were able to
reach her with a four-wheel drive, Avner said.

The woman complained of pain in her hip, lower back and ribs and was
unable to walk out on her own, Avner said.

“After getting back there, we felt we had no choice but to evacuate
her by air,” Avner said. “It is faster.”

About 1:30 p.m., a Riverside County Sheriff's helicopter was able to
transport the woman to Desert Regional Medical Center. Avner did not
immediately know her condition.

This just goes to show how careful you need to be these days. All of us love a good ride in the rough terrain as it is exciting! I think the best advice is to go with someone else when exploring new territory and going on harder trails.

Luckily this women was ok! But it should be a warning to us all about taking care!
