Extension of Little Miami Scenic Trail

The Hamilton County Park District and other agencies have made significant
progress regarding extension of the Little Miami Scenic Trail from Milford to
Little Miami Golf Center in the Village of Newtown.

The bridges across the Little Miami River and Dry Run Creek at Newtown Road have
been completed and will open once the paved trail connections are completed. The
bridges, once opened, will be used by non-motorized traffic but can also
accommodate emergency vehicles whenever necessary. Landscape restoration at the
bridge sites will be completed in spring 2005.

Construction of a trailhead at Avoca Park on Wooster Pike, west of Terrace Park,
has been completed and will be opened in spring 2005. The restrooms at the
trailhead cannot be made operational until the Metropolitan Sewer District
completes construction of its trunk sanitary sewer at Little Miami Golf Center,
therefore portable restrooms will temporarily be provided. The trailhead
includes paved parking for 50 vehicles, a restroom, picnic shelter, play field,
and landscaping. A short segment of paved trail has also been completed. The
sanitary sewer should be connected by mid summer 2005.

The Park District is preparing construction plans for paving the trail from
Avoca Park to Little Miami Golf Center. The project is scheduled to begin
construction in summer 2005 and be completed by fall 2005. Currently the
Metropolitan Sewer District is continuing construction of a sanitary sewer
through Little Miami Golf Center. The sewer project is scheduled to be complete
by mid summer 2005.

The Park District understands that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is
continuing to prepare construction plans for the trail from Milford through
Terrace Park to Kroger Hills Preserve and Avoca Park. This portion of the trail
is currently scheduled to begin construction in fall 2005 and be complete during
2006.

Improvements occurring at Little Miami Golf Center that relate to the proposed
trail improvements include expansion of the parking lot, relocation of the
entrance road, completion of the relocated Par 3 golf course, and expansion of
the practice range. The improvements are scheduled to be complete by fall 2005.
The Village of Newtown will be improving the intersection of Valley Ave, Newtown
Road and the new entrance to Little Miami Golf Center. This project is schedule
to be complete late summer 2005.
