Campy derailleur compatibility?
Howdy folks.
I just spent some time googling the archives and didn't find my answer, so here goes. I know from experience (and based on Peter from Veccio's recommendation) that there is no issue using a 10S rear derailleur with '99 9S Ergopower as I am running that combo on a bike now. I just got some 10S Centaur Ergopower and I am wondering if an 8 or 9S vintage rear derailleur would be okay. Since the chain only touches the pullies, I don't see where a fraction of a millimeter difference in cage width could matter much so I'm thinking any 8/9/10S rear derailleur should be fine. For the the front, since the cage is what moves the chain, I am thinking I should stick with 10S. Correct or doesn't matter? Thanks, Doug |

If the RD is not worn out, any ERGO with ANY front or rder....from Campagnolo, made since 1991, will work just fine...no modifications in either direction needed...10s chain with 8s DERS or 8s chain with 10s ders. Thanks, Doug |

Campy derailleur compatibility?
Thanks Peter :^)
The chain does need to match the cassette though, right? It almost sounds like you are saying any 8 through 10 speed chain is fine. Doug |
