The guy had just turned up on the sidewalk to wait for a shuttle bus to UC Hayward. Until pointed out the TWO cops in the car were oblivious to the sparks flying and the grinding noise. The owner of the restaurant where the bike was locked outside of inside of his shop could hear it. |

And, apparently the guy doing the filming had advances knowledge of the theft as he was filming prior to the thief even appearing on the scene. -- Cheers, John B. |

Which shows you that it's probably a fake. But since it does plainly shows that passers-by couldn't care less it is informative. |

Which shows you that it's probably a fake. But since it does plainly shows that passers-by couldn't care less it is informative. Ahm, have you guys heard of ... security cameras? Obviously the camera is at least 10ft above the pavement. So a "camera guy" would have to be rather tall or would need a personal jet pack. In both cases there would at least be subtle shaking. It looks like the same sort of camera that recorded a woman setting a bus stop on fire in front of a friend's business. This resulted in her being caught. Well, you wouldn't think that a man would be standing there and filming it if you wanted to see the reaction of the passers-by. The building appears to be a theater so there wouldn't be any outside balcony. But it still appears to be a set-up. The "thief" is too well dressed etc. |

Well, you wouldn't think that a man would be standing there and filming it if you wanted to see the reaction of the passers-by. The building appears to be a theater so there wouldn't be any outside balcony. The neighboring building does: https://goo.gl/maps/mf5GRmTT6BK2 But it still appears to be a set-up. The "thief" is too well dressed etc. They did that even decades ago. When I lived in the Netherlands people stole bikes in broad daylight, thinking they'd get away with it. The vast majority did get away with in but those who were caught because of a camera shot and made it into the media were often well dressed. Sometimes even business attire. It probably makes it easier to convince passers-by that they are supposedly cracking the lock on their own bike. -- Regards, Joerg http://www.analogconsultants.com/ |
