any street level run of the mill baboon will know less curvature adn more damping is more comfortable than less. And allows more control engaging more and less cramped nerve/muscle interactions.

My Raleigh had the usual less is faster and more profitable bar. I developed - with foam on - hand pain.

A $10 Nbar ergobar arived, installed with foam, rode for a mile and LO ! the pain disappeared. Amazing. PAIN,

Don't know who or what you're replying to.

If you have small hands/short fingers and thick padding you may not even be able to easily reach the brake levers let alone be able to get a good grip on those levers.

Mie too. I shellac it, which takes a long time, because it tends to
absorb more shellac than the cloth does, so it takes many coats. The
shellac makes it lasat a lot longer, and keeps it looking clean
longer. I get a year or so out of a set of tape, it tends to get beat
up in city parking. I need to redo the shellac on the bikes.....

My legal opinion is that, in Florida, Sir Ridesalot can stand his ground. Do not f*** with his cloth tape!

Personally, I like cork and rubber and found that cloth gets slimy and gross after a fairly short time in the PNW. I have also grown to dislike small diameter bars. They hurt my tender palms, even with gloves -- so fatty tape is good. Frank is right -- pure cork can break faster than cloth and look really bad (like on my commuter, which is a mix of cork and electrical tape). The rubbery stuff is more durable but more expensive.

The worst tape ever in the PNW is Bennoto Cello-tape -- even if it is "used by all cycling champions." http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-BENOTTO-...item4173d7c598

That stuff is slippery when wet. I was riding on the tops with that stuff many years ago, hit a bump, my hands slipped off, and I went careening across a major arterial before I regained my grip. Scared the crap out of me. Luckily there was no approaching traffic. That road is now perpetually crowded, and if I slipped today, I would get smashed -- although, statistically, I would only skin my knee.

FLORIDA LAW STATES CLEARLY: deliberate and conscious public use ages of inferior, dysfunctional or obsolete transportation system equipment are grounds for liability in civil actions for damages.

I don't understand why someones prefers cloth bartape over cork based

bartape.

Small hands prefer smaller diameter bars thus the thinner cloth tape is preferred over the thicker cork stuff.

And that. My Cinelli bars, I believe are a little larger diameter than what was standard, and my hands a little snall, cloth tape allowed me to get a good grip in the hooks with my wrists out.

I remember that back in the days before cork or gel tape that some riders would cut down a bicycle inner tube and wrap the bars with that and then put the cloth tape over the inner tube wrap.

Hockey tape seems o work pretty well as a bar tape too.

Cheers
