Default Experts ponder whether or not Boeing can repair carbon-fiber 787damaged by fire

When your carbon fiber bicycle frame breaks, the manufacturer replaces
it free if the failure was due to a manufacturing defect, or the
manufacturer offers the owner a big discount on a replacement frame if
the damage was caused by the owner (crashing or other reason). It may
cost the owner $500-1000.

Now Boeing has to decide what to do about the Ethiopian Airlines 787 now
that the fire that burned through the carbon fiber fuselage was
determined to likely be an issue with the emergency locator transponder.

Unlike the Airbus A350, which uses carbon fiber panels attached to a
ribbed structure, the 787 uses CF tubes. The entire damaged tube will
need to be replaced, if it's even possible. The plane may have to be
dismantled to salvage the most valuable components and written off entirely.

Boing's response to composite fatigue criticism is the structure is of composite replaceable panels..in the flack a Boing rep inside the 787 pointing to a composite ceiling panel.

the diagram I saw at that time of composite panels does not immediately surface. Instead, several diagrams showing where each part is globally made, thus ensuring confidence amung air travelers.

where's the repair facilty ?

BTW, 787 failures are from aux systems not composite panels.

Volvo cried abt suffering failed microswitches from France.

787 composite failures are around the corner.

Keep a fire extinguisher handy.
