Terry,
Thank you for your feedback. I just return from another business trip from Japan and I'm planning to visit in the silicon valley in few weeks. My target to be in US before the Christmases (I must see all the lights again) . I will stay for ~ 2 weeks and I would like to ride during the weekend. Regarding the hills - no problem. Y. Do you know on any web site / books / recommendation on a nice track (we do not want to go to SF not the 17 miles) There are several very nice routes to Santa Cruz. Your best resource is the Krebs Cycling map of the area: http://www.krebscycleproducts.com/M3.html If you tell me about how long you want the ride to be, I can give you a suggested route. I hope you like hills, because that's what we have. |

Rick.
Thank you for your feedback I started to search the Web and indeed, I found all the locations you mention Regarding the 17 miles- yes IO refer to the '17 mile drive' between Monterey and Carmel Y. (Rick Warner) wrote in message . com... (Y bar) wrote in message . com... All I'm planning to arrive to Santa Clara (CA) for a ~ week (first time), my friend also will arrive to CA and we would like to bike in the area ( from Santa Clara to Santa Cruz ???) Do you know on any web site / books / recommendation on a nice track (we do not want to go to SF not the 17 miles) I think you need to phrase the question a bit differently. I assume you are talking of single-track, not track cycling as one would do in a velodrome. If that is the case, take a look at the book with a title something like 100 Best Mountain Bike Rides in California; I have the book at home, but not with me. Close to Santa Clara there is Fremont Older. Further up the hill there is Saratoga Gap and Russian Ridge. Near Santa Cruz there is Wilder Ranch. Lots of other possibilities; you can Google for any of those and find more info. BTW, it is unclear to what the 17 miles you mention refers. It is almost 50 miles from Santa Clara to SF (ridden it recently). There is a '17 mile drive' in the region, but that is in the Monterey-Carmel area, not SF. - rick |

i am not a regular there - but i average twice a month. note that each
training session is independant - showup and ride (rent if u need to). if you are renting there, you gotto bring your own cycling shoes and pedals - i will not be there this weekend (Oct. 30) +ravi Y bar wrote: Ravi, Thank you for the info.
