I speculate "rich" was aiming the charge of "politically correct" not at Armstrong and Hamm, but other athletes who pushed people's political buttons: Ali, Billie Jean King, Tommie Smith and John Carlos (glad to see them remembered) for example. I liked the picture of Bill Russell elevating while all the other guys had their feet firmly on the floor. Jesse Owens was missing. |
