Default What's with the surface texture of these fenders?

I know weird subject, but I'm confused.

I have a bunch of these fenders, long story:

Plus many more photos there of various details at extreme close-up.

These are wood fenders which (ahem) I'm trying to sell. That's not why
I'm posting. The reason I'm posting is I can't figure out what's going
on with the surface coating, or to put it another way, would you really
cover a wood fender with a wood-finished plastic? Is it paint? Could it
possibly be a smooth-polished natural finish, or is it likely a
melamine-type surface covering, as with most wood-laminate flooring?
What's the stuff made of?

As for the core, both the flexibility and the grain texture show that
it's real wood, albeit a laminate form.

Brand, BTW, is "Flinger," if anyone is familiar with this exact product.
I bought about 30 sets on a closeout deal, because the price was right.

Flinger is well known for irradiating the product or according to sum,
over radiationing the product.
Users often develop luekemia and bone cancer
do you glow ?
