I never take myself too seriously, Tom; there are more important
things to take seriously, such as what is for dinner, and which winea
shall I serve with it.

Mea culpa. In future I shall report all units correctly as gear
inches.

The NY Times was equally sloppy with units today:
"Even so, they said, the covered vessel was probably
moving no more than 3 to 4 knots an hour, meaning it

Poor grammar, horrid syntax, a smartarse refusal to use the common
vernacular which is familiar to all readers, but what do you expect
from journos? They don't know gear inches from their ischial
tuberosities.
