This is the northeastern part of Texas. Enforcement has been low for
years, but is picking up. I suppose the state and locals see this as a good
way to pick up some easy cash.

People here complain about DRLs but then wont turn their lights on in
the rain or at dusk as prescribed by law. They pass in the emergency lane
and toodle down the road in the passing (left lane on divided highways).

It is said that the family trees here have no branches.


The thing is that when they need the money they really go for the ones
that make traffic dangerous to the rest. But here they just do it in
very low danger areas where unsuspecting drivers are caught speeding
somewhat.

Real enforcement would take more than that. Remember, THE FIRST LINE
OF DEFENSE IS THE POLICE (whose duty is not to fill the city's
coffers).
