Obama and cycling...

Fellow Cyclists,

I was totally unaware of President Obama's huge support of bicycling:

Hopefully, as cyclists we can find a way to use Obama's bike-love to
our advantage. But I'm unsure about what kinds of things to ask for.

Any ideas?

Plus, I'm not sure about what a PRESIDENT can do for cycling? Cycling
seems to be more in the realm of our locally elected government
officials (i.e. Senator and Congressman).

Hopefully I'm wrong.

President Obama has appointed a Secretary of Energy and a Secretary of
Transportation who are also big fans of cycling.

How about putting transportation modes into hate crime laws? There are
lots of people that will try to kill a cyclist for no other reason
than they are on the road on a bicycle. One tried to kill me just
because of that. Put mode of transport on the feds list of terrorist
actions.
