Seeing your bike computer screen at night
It's not always easy. If your bike computer screen has a back light,
well you can likely read it, but to the detriment of your computer battery. If you wear a helmet mounted light, you could look down and illuminate the screen I guess. For my dynamo powered front light, I'm thinking of adding something like this... http://i-fiberoptics.com/engineering...ts&summary=104 -- JS |

You can solve the dead battery problem by drilling two holes in your bicycle computah, wiring leads to the internal battery, and adding a big fat external battery somewhere. However, if you want a gooseneck style lamp, I have a different idea. Instead of using a light pipe, just put a tiny LED at the end of a piece of flexible coaxial cable. I use RG-402 semi-rigid 0.141" diameter coaxial cable. Anyone that does microwave or avionics work has some of these: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/semi-rigid-coax The cables usually come with male SMA connectors on the ends. Get two SMA receptacles. Add the light on one end, and the power source on the other. The 0.141 coax is quite stiff and will stay in place once bent to shape. It's also not so stiff as to create an impalement hazard should you fall on top of it. -- Jeff Liebermann 150 Felker St #D http://www.LearnByDestroying.com Santa Cruz CA 95060 http://802.11junk.com Skype: JeffLiebermann AE6KS 831-336-2558 |
