Default pneumatic vs. solid tires for pre-schoolers

With a 10" or 12" bike for a 2 year old, is it better to get th
puncture proof maintenance free solid tires or get the smoother ridin
pneumatic tire so as to avert a transition later to pneumatics

Pneumatic, as the rolling resistance is much lower. Use tuffy tape if
you're that bothered about punctures.
