Police hunt yet another road rage cyclist
Number plates would reduce the problem.
"a man on a bicycle collided with the car. The cyclist kicked the car and then then lifted his bike and slammed it on the roof of the car." He was described as mixed race, in his late teens or early twenties. The man had short dark hair, was approximately 6ft 2ins tall, and he was wearing a grey top and jeans. The bike was a dark coloured mountain bike. Not much to go on, compare that to even a partial number plate. http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/Cycl...ail/story.html |

Yes, number plates work well for cars. The fear of being caught through an easy ID is a great incentive to be well behaved. |

Well, they obviously don't 'work well', considering the sheer ****ing carnage that your chosen method of transport inflicts on innocent and unsuspecting men, women and children who have the temerity to walk about Britain. -- john smith '_The Guardian_. Given the vast number of vehicles and the vast number of miles they travel, the number of deaths and injuries is very good compared to most countries of the world. From the chart you link to: The quantity of KSI is also reducing year on year, despite the increase in numbers and distances travelled. Try to imagine how bad things would be if motor vehicle users had no training, , no licencing, no compulsory insurance and no need of adherence to rules of the road, coupled with great difficulty in identification of miscreants. |

More anti-cyclist trolling. The figures for death and injury are of the order of 181,957 injuries and around 1,700 deaths per year (2013 figures from DfT). Tell us how many of them are caused by cyclists. -- john smith '_The Guardian_. Wrong about everything. All the time' (Anon) |

Tell us how many of them are caused by cyclists. Almost as many pedestrian injuries are caused by cyclists as are caused by motorists per mile travelled. What does that have to do with the subject? If cyclists were easily identifiable (as motor vehicles are ) then the prevalence of cyclists scarpering and remaining undetected would decrease, the fear of being easily identified would improve the behaviour of cyclists and improve their adherence to the laws of the road, which would give a decrease in the number of pedestrian KSI. |

Cyclists kill on average 0-1 persons per year, usually a pedestrian that steps out into the road without looking. QUOTE: " According to the Department for Transport (DfT), in 2009, the most recent year for which figures are available, no pedestrians were killed in Great Britain by cyclists, but 426 died in collisions with motor vehicles out of a total of 2,222 road fatalities." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-13040607 |

Seems like we have another ****wit, The link is to a table showing how RTC fatalities have reduced by 48% since 2000, except cyclist fatalities which have remained much the same. It has nothing whatsoever to do with number plates. |

You are a special kind of stupid. RTC fatalities have halved in the last 15 years and the UK has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world. |
