Default Best Bike Sales?

In attempting to put my Schwinn Hybrid back together and (I'm stuck at
getting the derailleur, etc. just so) almost to the point to give up and
take it to the LBS and drop the cash for them to fix it or see if they
would take it as a trade in if that's even done in the bike world.

Anyway, I was wondering if you 'guys' had noticed if there's any good
times of years to keep eyes peeled for sales? Since I've never purchased
a bike before, thought I would ask

Right now! End of season and they are clearing out the 05's.

thanks for the heads up!

and I was meaning 'guys' as a general term - but I guess that the
apostrophes around the word didn't make that clear... I'll work on that
for my next post!

Buy 2005 bikes, or even 2004. Just bought a Giant and saved 20%, and a mate
saved 33%!

About now. Seems most new models are released _here_ about
October/early November so now is a good time to pick up a last year's
model. Your timing will vary since I think that I'm probably on the
other side of the world from you and upside down.

If you come/call our shop, one of my two bosses will be doing sales and
"blowouts" 365 days a year. We don't put prices on our bikes and we just
kinda make up the prices as we go along. One of the sales tactics my boss
uses is to start high but make it look like the price is good by discounting
it by $400 on a $2000 bike when in reality the retail price on it is
something like $1700... we're still cutting a pretty big discount, of
course. Typical sales tactics, etc.

If you talk to me though, I don't bull**** around and throw ridiculously
high numbers out in the air and then talk about deep discounts for blowing
out old models, blah blah blah. That's because the retail price is now
listed on the manuf's websites and customers come back complaining about it
and I have to pick up the tattered remains of the customer/shop relationship
that my boss has just completely ****ed up. If you screw your customers,
you screw yourself, I say.
